Starting in Norland, you have a little idea in your head concerning the building of a robust, working kingdom. You are busy collecting resources, gathering materials, and setting up the industry. Later, though, you might actually want it to look good! Here’s how you can rotate and move buildings in Norland to create the ideal layout for your kingdom.
How to Rotate Buildings in Norland
Rotating the buildings in Norland is simple, once you’ve selected the building to place, use the “Q” and “E” keys to rotate left or right. You can also use the middle mouse button to rotate the structure. This lets you fit buildings together nice and neatly into your kingdom. Not all the buildings can be rotated, however. Some of them, like the Lumbermill and the Rutabaga Field, can only face one direction.
Other constructions, like the Dormitory or Lord’s House, allow a little more freedom-you can rotate them as you please and place them facing in any direction, whether it be north, south, east, or west.
Because Norland is in Early Access, this feature is most likely to be subject to modification with later updates. For now, only some of the buildings can be rotated.
How to Move Buildings in Norland
While you can’t rotate every building, the good news is that you can move any structure you’ve placed. Let’s say you want to reposition your Rutabaga Field to make more space in your settlement. Just select the Rutabaga Field, and you’ll see an icon in the bottom left of your HUD (Heads-Up Display) that looks like two arrows circling each other. Click this icon to move the building to a new spot.
It’s free to move structures, but keep in mind that your builders will need to physically reconstruct them in their new location, so it will take some time.
Tips for Organizing Your Settlement
As you expand your kingdom, you might want to reorganize your buildings to make your settlement look more attractive and efficient. I usually start by moving my Lord’s Housing into one dedicated area and do the same for Dormitories and Peasant Homes. This makes my kingdom feel more organized and gives it a polished look.
By learning how to rotate and move buildings in Norland, you can build a kingdom that’s not only powerful but also beautiful.
