Minecraft has been one of the games you appeal to both new & veteran players for years. Loyal fans have kept the game alive for over twenty-five years, though not all versions have been as enduring. As revealed by Mojang, one of these versions – the PlayStation VR edition – will have its support dropped in March 2025.
What Took Place with Minecraft PlayStation VR?
The premier date for the Minecraft PlayStation VR was November 2020, by Mojang. With this players, could get into the VR mode and start playing in the world that groups grew up with. No matter if you were using the DualShock controller or PS Move, you could jump into Minecraft’s enormous sandbox and start building something new with a completely fresh approach. Initially, it got players excited and a lot of them liked the immersion.
But that all changed when Sony showed up with the PS VR2 in 2023. Support for the original PlayStation VR dried up, and excitement in the outdated VR system waned. This brings us to today where Mojang has revealed that Minecraft PlayStation VR support will be ending in 2025.

Mojang’s Announcement
In a recent blog post, Mojang explained that March 2025 will bring the final update for the PlayStation VR version. After that, no more updates will come, and the game will no longer work with VR.
Here’s what Mojang had to say:
The message from Stress Level Zero continues, “We will stop updating Boneworks for PSVR at the beginning of March 2025. You will still get updates on your PlayStation, and you can play without PS VR after the last update has been received. From here you can continue to build in your worlds, and all your Marketplace purchases (including Tokens) are available. And, from there on: you will not be able to use your PlayStation®VR with Minecraft, as it will no longer be supported in the latest updates.
What this means for Minecraft players
This will surely be a blow to fans of Minecraft VR, however the title continues its long and storied life on other platforms. Both the Bedrock and Java Editions are updated to this day and remain one of the most popular platforms. So, though the PlayStation VR version may be coming to an end, Minecraft isn’t ending all that soon.
While these are obviously not modes in Minecraft if you’re reading this and have yet to experience its endless possibilities elsewhere other platforms will give you stacks of fun.
