In the new expansion of Destiny 2 entitled The Final Shape, players are presented with a new activity called Overthrow, held in The Pale Heart, a completely new destination where many exciting challenges will present themselves to the Guardians. Of the trickier parts that make up the Overthrow event, Undying Thrall stands out due to the name suggesting this isn’t going to be an easy kill.
By the time you get to the second phase of the Overthrow event, you are really meant to take down the Undying Thrall; that is, however, easier said than done because of its shields. Fear not, though, because we’ve got this covered. Here’s how you can take down the Undying Thrall and progress further in the event.
How to Kill the Undying Thrall in Destiny 2
The main thing to defeat Undying Thrall is breaking its shield. To be able to do that, you need to stand in the orange and brown circle-it gives you a debuff which allows you to destroy its shield. These circles are scattered randomly in the area, and you’ll recognize them by a small floating pyramid with a beam of light pointing to the circle.
When you find one of these circles, lead the Undying Thrall to it-you can shoot at the Thrall or get close enough so that it notices you and follows you to the circle. Once you are in the circle, step inside and you will gain a status effect called “Suppressor.” This debuff is what you need to destroy the shield. When the status is active, begin firing into the Undying Thrall. Provided one is within the circle, the shield goes down and one can beat it.
The reward will immensely help during the event Overthrow if you destroy the Undying Thrall, thus enabling you to finish the current phase so much faster.
How to Start the Undying Thrall Event in Destiny 2
Well, in Destiny 2’s Undying Thrall, there are a few steps that a player must employ to activate such an event. First is to trigger the Overthrow public event in The Pale Heart by queuing from the Destinations menu or finding it in the area.
Complete Level 1 of the public event by finishing missions to earn progress points. Once you reach Level 2, new objectives will appear, including destroying the Undying Thrall, which is marked by a floating pyramid with beams of light.
Keep in mind that it may take some time for the Thrall to spawn and is generally very unpredictable. Lure it closer to the circle, as it tends to move around a great deal so you don’t waste ammo.
That’s all you need to know to defeat the Undying Thrall in Destiny 2. Good luck, Guardian, and enjoy everything that The Final Shape expansion has to offer! If you’re looking to collect more cool items, check out our guide on how to get the Ronin Ghost Shell.
