In truth, though, only seven of those would be able to get full attention while the rest don’t get quite as much. Plus, there’s a lot of backtracking! Funko Fun with Some Problems

The catch? While there are over 20 franchises, only seven have full levels. If you liked “Hot Fuzz,” “The Thing,” or “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” well, strap yourself in because this is how you fill out a world. If you enjoyed series like “Back to the Future,” “Jaws,” or “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” then get ready to be a little frustrated by some of the tedious backtracking. You’ll have to search other levels to access those worlds.

Backtracking Everywhere

Backtracking means going back to levels you’ve already played, and this game has a lot of that. For example, to get to the “Jaws” stage, you’ll need to play through the “Hot Fuzz” world first. Then, after finding the portal to the next world, you’ll need to unlock certain characters with special abilities like flamethrowers or energy weapons. This means you’ll need to go through levels from “The Thing” and “Battlestar Galactica” to unlock those characters. It can feel like a lot of extra work.

If you like solving puzzles and exploring, you might enjoy this. But if you prefer action-packed levels, the backtracking can get a bit boring. Once you’ve completed the main stages, you can replay them in “Funplay” mode with any unlocked character, which is fun, but only after doing the tough stuff first.

Gameplay

“Funko Fusion” is played from a third-person view, meaning you see your character from behind. The gunplay is actually really good, and because of the big Funko Pop heads, hitting headshots feels satisfying. You can’t take too many hits, so rushing in without a plan will get you into trouble.

The combat’s fun, but all the backtracking involved in it just makes the game longer than it actually is. If you enjoy finding every secret and collecting everything, you’ll love it. But if you’re a casual player, the backtracking might feel like a chore.

If you love unlocking characters and finding hidden secrets, “Funko Fusion” will keep you busy. Characters like Chucky, Xena, M3gan, and Mega Man are hidden throughout the game. But unlocking them requires doing specific tasks and finding them in different levels.

For example, to unlock Chucky, you need to find him in the “Hot Fuzz” level and in several other stages. Completing the game 100% and unlocking all characters will take a lot of time—probably many hours.

“Funko Fusion” is a mix of fun and frustration. It’s a chaotic adventure with good combat, lots of cool franchises, and plenty of hidden secrets. But the game relies too much on backtracking, has uneven humour, and doesn’t give equal focus to all franchises.
